Manuela Viera-Gallo


Is a Chilean artist born in 1977 during her parents’ exile in Rome. In 1984, she returned to Santiago, Chile, where she studied Visual Art at The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She is a five-time recipient of DIRAC funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Chile;last year she was part of RU - residency unlimited(2015 )  was selected for acquisition at the Bienal de lasFronteras at the Contemporary Art Museum of Tamaulipas, Mexico (2014); and received a special mention for her video Red Carpet at the Adriatic Biennale, Italy (2006), among other awards. She has had residencies at the Centre for Contemporary Art FUTURA in Prague, Czech Republic (2009); the FLACC Workplace for Visual Artists in Genk, Belgium (2007); and most recently at Residency Unlimited in New York, NY (2013). She has exhibited internationally at multiple biennials, museums, and institutions including El Museo del Barrio in New York, NY (2013); the 10th Biennial of Media Arts at the Beaux Art Museum in Santiago, Chile (2012); the Art Museum of the Americas, Washington D.C. (2012); the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago (2007); and the 5th Bienal do Mercosul in Porto Alegre, Brazil (2005). She has lived and worked in New York since 2005.
